About
Creative Wanderings Art Center was founded by Ashley Ernest, a professional artist, jewelry designer, arts educator, and creative wellness facilitator with more than 20 years of experience. Ashley holds a B.A. from Rhode Island Collegeand an M.F.A. from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Design, with a concentration in Art Education. Throughout her career, she has worked with people of all ages in communities including Providence, Philadelphia, Detroit, Southern New Jersey, Baltimore, and Cambridge.
The inspiration behind Creative Wanderings Art Center grew from Ashley and her husband Matthew's adventurous spirit. Together with their young son, Tate, they spent six and a half months traveling around the country in the Creative Wanderings camper, exploring new places, meeting diverse communities, and embracing creativity along the way.
These experiences continue to shape CWAC's mission: using art as a tool for exploration, self-expression, and connection. We are passionate about creating fun, welcoming, and inspiring environments where children can develop confidence, imagination, and a lifelong love of creativity. We believe that art helps young minds grow, discover new perspectives, and see the world in meaningful ways.
