About

Founder Ashley Ernest has a BA from Rhode Island College and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art-degrees in Metalsmithing/Jewelry Design with a concentration in Art Education. For the last 20+ years she has worked professionally as an artist, jewelry designer, an arts educator for all ages, as a creative wellness facilitator and coach for adults, as a community health worker, and as a local community volunteer within her communities- areas as diverse as Providence RI, Philadelphia, Detroit, Southern NJ, Baltimore, and Cambridge, MA.

Partner and husband Matthew Werkmeister has a BA from Golden Beacom College in Financial Management and Psychology, plus a media degree from Connecticut School of Broadcasting. He plays the guitar, illustrates, builds things and is an amateur comedian. 

After living in Philadelphia, PA for many years, Ashley and Matthew- along with their 2 year old son Tate- traveled the country living in the Creative Wanderings camper for 6-1/2 months! 

 

These experiences inform their creative spirit, sense of adventure and ability to connect with people of all ages and backgrounds. At Creative Wanderings Art Center, we use art as a tool to help kids explore the world through their imagination. We are passionate about helping young minds develop and grow, and we believe that art has the power to do just that.We provide a fun and safe environment for kids to express themselves and discover their creative side.
